Button format has to be as follow. Online Button: yourname_on.(png/jpg or gif)! Offline Button: yourname_off.(png/jpg or gif). Always upload two buttons at the same time.
I did follow those instructions, they are both PNG files.

And you select both files and upload it at the same time? Permission is set to the files folder and the folders inside the files folder?
The buttons folder exists inside the files folder and has as well permission 775?
Yes, except the permissions were set to 755, but I just tried setting to 775 and still get the same error.
Depending on your system how it is set, please try 777 on the files folder and the folders inside.
