I assume you have uploaded the files via an FTP program like filezilla?
You can right click on the folders mentioned above and set the permissions.
I have made the change and when installing, I get this message:
The website encountered an error while retrieving..... It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
This error is not relevant or no help, please check your server error logs for further information.
You can also send me ftp and control panel information if you stuck.
Thank you for your server information, you have replaced a lot of our variables which we don't care but it has messed up a lot of the files. Something like that won't work.
We don't display any copyright link to our site for the clients and if so you can remove it of course in the template files. It is impossible for us to provide support with such messed up files.
I suggest you delete all files and folders and start from scratch without editing all our files with search and replace and it will work fine.
